Why does Riesling matter? – Because you can’t mess with the gods – when all the elements for success present themselves and line up you must go forward. The Finger Lakes is an area on this planet where the Nobel Riesling grape exceeds its expectations…it becomes the very best it can be – every element is here to produce outstanding wine – the brains, the brawn, the sun, the soil, the rain, the skies…..and the desire. That is why Riesling matters.
Why does Casa Larga Vineyards produces Rieslings? We produce Rieslings, because we produce outstanding Rieslings. Our vineyard founder, Mr. Colaroutolo, was born in Italy and Italians, by nature, seek wines that are produced well in a region as it is all about the region. The Riesling vine thrives in this region. The environment of the Finger Lakes is perfect for Riesling– sandy loam, shale, gray skies, and cool nights. Riesling is the grape that is most influenced by the soil and therefore most exciting to produce – producing the perfect balance between fruit and soil and it is that excitement plus our wine maker skill is why we produce Riesling.
